January 2015 Teacher Feature – Miss Kimmy!

We would like to introduce Miss Kimmy Ehlke!

Now in her third year at AMA, Miss Kimmy teaches jazz, lyrical, and hip hop as the director of our two performance companies, The AMA Dance Force and the AMA Future Force! You can also usually find Miss Kimmy at the desk or talk to her on the phone, as she is also our Office Manager.

Miss Kimmy is from Wixom, Michigan and is a graduate of Central Michigan University’s business, leadership, and dance programs. Fire Up Chips!

Favorite Things: Miss Kimmy loves the colors purple and aqua. She loves dogs, dog pictures, dog videos, and especially pictures of basset hounds running. Her favorite food is mashed potatoes and she loves to cuddle up on the couch and read a good book!

Favorite Dance Memory: “It’s so hard to choose just one! I really loved going to dance conventions growing up; there’s something really special about being in a room with hundreds of other dancers for a weekend. Everyone really pushes themselves to be better and shares their passion; it’s fantastic! A really great moment was winning a scholarship one year at a convention; I had to go through an audition process and compete against all the other dancers for just a few scholarships. It feels amazing when hard work finally pays off! As a teacher, my favorite memory so far was seeing my competition dancers on stage for the first time last year; it was something I’d been working up to for basically my whole life, so it was really exciting to have everything come together on stage for the first time!”

Miss Kimmy teaches dance because she loves sharing her passion and seeing her students grow. “It’s amazing to see each student’s progression throughout the year. If they leave my class a little better, a little more passionate, and a little more confident each day, then I know I’m doing my job right.”
