(Today’s post comes from dance instructor Miss Lauren Tedeschi!)
Our February at AMA was especially wonderful! We all know that February represents the month of LOVE! At AMA, we wanted to celebrate many different types of love. We shared the love we have for ourselves, our classmates, our teachers and, of course, the love for what we do!
Each week, the students received a paper heart in each of their classes to write their love on. The hearts were displayed around our studio, making February 2015 our warmest and fuzziest to date!
Our AMA walls filled with hearts!
Week 1: What we love about ourselves.
Students were asked to write something they loved about themselves on a bright pink heart. We talked about the importance of loving yourself and being proud of who you are.
We had a variety of AMAzing answers! Some of our younger students explained that they loved their hair, eyes, and nose. Other students wrote about how they loved their smile, helping others and their sense of humor.
Hearts sharing what our students love about themselves!
One student wrote about confidence… Another wrote about helping others!
Week 2: What we love about our classmates!
During Week 2, our AMA students were given red hearts. Classmates were partnered up and wrote something special about each other. For our private music classes, the students wrote something sweet about their teacher while the teacher wrote something back.
The students loved hearing something nice about themselves – which definitely amped up our AMA positive atmosphere in the classrooms! The answers ranged from liking the way a student tumbles, to funny jokes a student shares with the class.

Our staff also said some pretty nice things
about each other on the peach heart wall!
Week 3: What we love about dance, music or tumbling!
Our final week of “spreading the love” focused on why the student loves to dance, tumble or play their instrument.
We used white hearts and got some great answers from “it makes me feel smart,” to “I get to be with my close friends,” to one adult student who wrote, “it’s 45 minutes in my week that I truly do not think about work!”
Here is what some of our students wrote
about why they love their lessons at AMA!
In writing down and sharing what makes us happy about ourselves and each other, we certainly had a lot to say here at AMA!
