It was March of 2012. With college costs looming over our heads, we knew we had to think of a way to come up with our portion of our education. We have a deal with our parents: they each pay one-third of all costs (tuition, books, supplies and travel), and we each do as well. They wanted us to be vested, so we would do our best. We all knew up front that closer would be cheaper and state school versus private school would make a difference to ALL of us as well.

We saved what we could from gifts our whole lives, but not nearly enough. My brother, sister, and I discussed it. We wanted something that was all our own, so we researched our idea, the costs involved and then reviewed our bank accounts. Our new venture would completely drain each of our entire life’s savings. But, if we pooled our money together, we could do it. And we did. We opened our own business: Photo Booth Rentals of Chicagoland!

We hired a graphic designer, R & J Productions, to create our logo and flizness cards (our cards are a cross between a business card and a photo strip). We got our website up and running, and next thing we knew, we were booking events! Lots of them! We realized quickly that this new venture was going to work!

What are the 2 most important things to know about our photo booth?

Kendall, Jessie and Conrad Frank ham it up for the camera.1. There is no stress for you the day of the event – we take care of all the details for you! We ALWAYS have two attendants working the booth for set-up, booth management, picture distribution, prop handling, etc. (other companies only have one attendant!)

2. Our booth is fun for everyone at any event! I have never seen a person go into the booth and not come out smiling and laughing. And it’s usually our most reluctant guests that immediately stand in line for another turn!

My siblings and I have learned on-the-job the importance of things like customer service, bookkeeping and management. Working in a family business can be overwhelming, but we have found it to be a fun and exciting adventure, as every event is unique!
