There are so many things to be grateful for, it would take me a month of blogs to list everything. So, I will limit my “Grateful” list to the 5 items that immediately come to mind today.

5.) I am thankful to own a small business in a very tough economy. To say it’s a lot of work is a bit of an understatement, but I am truly grateful for the opportunity TO work.

Here's a photo of the AMA building.

4.) I am thankful for the students I encounter each and every day. Whether working with a 3-year-old, or 73-year-old, I am blessed to do something I love. Putting smiles on faces is THE most important thing a person can do (at least I think so). It’s powerful and humbling at the same time.

Some of our FABULOUS AMA students!

3.) It goes without saying that I can do neither 1 nor 2 without the support of a strong staff. I used to think I was an easy person to work for. I do not think that any more. I ask a lot of our AMA staff. I want our students to have the BEST experience possible at AMA, so I am always asking our staff to “Add this; Try that; Find this; Research that; Build another one; Incorporate this; Smile ALL the time; Be nicer, more pleasant; Get this done, That done” and the list goes on and on… and on. And you know what? Items requested get done because our staff is talented and they are team players. In a word…they are AMAzing!!!

2.) I am thankful to have the most awesome friends in the world. I try to gravitate toward happy, positive people. As a result my friends are very easy (and fun!) to be around.

Ann Marie and friend

I met Cari in the 5th grade. We have stood up in each other’s weddings and spend a lot of time together still today! We laugh A LOT!

Ann Marie and friend

My sister Chris and I are the youngest of six kids… four older brothers, than me, then her. We did everything together as kids and she is the most generous person on the planet.

I met Martha when she took my tap class back in 1987. She is so supportive of everything I do and I am lucky to call her my friend!

Ann Marie and her friend Marty

I met Marty on my first day of high school back in 1979. We have been friends ever since.

Ann Marie's prom picture

We even went to our prom together… and he is Conrad’s godfather. He is awesome and fun and I cannot imagine a life without him!

Ann Marie and her friends from the law firm.

I have known these ladies since 1987 when I got my first full-time job at a law firm in downtown Chicago. We worked together for almost 2 decades. We have all since left that firm, but get together 4-5x per year to hang out and just enjoy the positivity and friendship of each other!

1.) It goes without saying that my three kids are amazing. ALL of us have amazing kids. Ask any parent… they will tell you! But, the No. 1 thing I am grateful for is the health of my kids. Healthy kids are something I have taken for granted as long as they have been born. I have enjoyed the fact that they have been blessed with good health and can do just about anything physically and mentally they would like.

All three of my kids have had bouts with health issues in the past three months. All serious issues, initially, but all will recover 100%.

I never really thought about my kids being sick, let alone being sick and away from home, as my daughters were this year.

So, yes… I am most thankful for the health of my children. We are truly blessed.

Wishing all of you the Happiest of Thanksgivings!

Warmly,

Warmly, Ann Marie
