Benefits to Our Children

As parents in a difficult economy, we always have to weigh the options where our dollars our best spent on activities for our children. I only know from my own experience as a mom of 3 kids (2 girls who are 19 and 18 and my 16-year-old son), the benefits of these particular activities and what it has done for them. My kids are confident and not afraid to speak in front of adults. They will look you in the eye and say, “It’s nice to meet you!” while shaking your hand for the first time.

Build confidence in your childrenMy oldest daughter is going to college to be a diplomat because she wants to help others. My next in line is going to ISU to be in the acrobatic circus like her tumbling teacher because she wants to be like her teacher and keep active while pursuing a degree in another field; and my son (who is a die-hard football player) will be in any dance-related activity at school because with dance always comes a positive environment, lots of friends, and I’d be lying if I didn’t say… lots of girls.

I’m not sure if the results are so strong because these are year-round activities (not just 12-week programs once a year… or just in the summer), but the bonds my kids have with their dance, tumbling and music teachers and mentors continue to grow and deepen year after year. And what is really cool is the lessons they learn today, along with their experience, will stay with them decades later.

Dance, tumbling and music has taught my kids responsibility, confidence… and that possibilities are limitless!
