AMA Dance & Music School’s Owner Accused of “Craziness”!

The Annual Student Appreciation Pajama Party & Sleepover is, hands down, the best party AMA throws each year!

The event was held on Friday, January 18. This year our theme was a luau – complete with Hawaiian decorations such as palm trees and grass skirts for the tables, a lei craft table, raffles, and delicious food donated by Rand Red Hots! (Thank you!)

To top it off… we even invited the famous dance troupe, The Barefoot Hawaiians!! (Thank you for joining us!)

The Barefoot Hawaiians joined AMA Dance & Music School for a sleepover party!

The Barefoot Hawaiians, AMA Staff, and AMAzing Students!

Owner Gwen Kennedy and her incredible dancers not only performed for us, but gave us several hula lessons! We had a blast! And boy, did we laugh! Hula dancing is so different than the dancing we teach, we were definitely challenged and got a great work out!

The Barefoot Hawaiians taught AMA students how to hula dance.

That’s right, we can hula!

We took so many great pictures – too many to post! But here are a few!

We had a “Guess how many pieces of candy in the jar” contest!

We played games and had a contest winner!

Congrats to our contest winner!

Miles of Smiles

My colleagues… even studio parents say to me, “You’re crazy! All those kids sleeping over? There is no way I would ever do that!” OMGosh… you can feel the smiles and joy at this party.

AMA students enjoy Rand Red Hots during the party.

Beautiful smiles!

Go ahead… Call me crazy.

I took a moment to stand back and watch our 10 staff members, 125+ students AND their 40+ parents participating excitedly in the party. I watched the smiles, the hugs and the high-fives among teachers and students! I could see before my own eyes self-confidence and camaraderie soar. As I observed all of this, I thought to myself, “Go ahead… Call me crazy.”

AMA students have craft time during the sleepover.

Crafts included making leis!

If you are 6 or older, you are invited to stay for the lock-in. We continue with the festivities, making heart-shaped pillows to sleep with, competing in Wii’s Dance Revolution AND Miss Jessie even directed, filmed and edited a music video in under an hour. WOW! (You can check it out on YouTube here!)

Two good friends enjoying the luau.

Friendships grow at AMA.

We Love Our AMA Families!
